Though it wasn’t literally Payday as it wish it was, we were on Days 3 & 4 of shooting Fabian Lopez’ short film, “Payday.” It’s been a fun shoot, with David Vaught, Tylor West Stephen Collinsworth, Jamal Benoit, Rafeal Enrique Santiago, Michael Lott and others.
These are cool fun people. We have been laughing between takes and just having a good time in general.
I am learning things I like to do and don’t like to do, which is what I want to get out of it. I am making contacts for future projects, which is also what I need to do as I continue to try to work my way into the DFW filmmaking circles. Already talked about a reality show pitch and shooting on another actor’s upcoming project.
We shot a promo for Platinum Wear on Sunday which I was particularly excited about. The promo came up when me and Fabian and R.C. Hensley were hanging around cleaning stuff up after Day 2 and we were kicking around ideas for something comedic with Kevin Green and I got an idea for it and pitched it. After some subtle tweaking we got the script we went with Sunday and it’s funny. I through together a rough cut this morning just to see how the sequences look together and it is going to be very funny once it’s edited together.
We were in trouble at first because our first and second options for the “hot chick” part cancelled on us, so we were all scrambling to find a sub on short notice and someone who could work for free. That is always the kicker. We all want to get to the money making career part of this, but right now a lot is still going to be done for free and for credit, gratitude and food and favors. Just the way it is right now.
David came through for us with a woman he knows in the form of Andrea Renee Simon. She was a trooper. She showed up on time, ready to do whatever. She even had a much nicer car than we were planning to use so she made the promo much better than it already would have been. It will be great to use her in projects going forward. I already have a couple ideas.
We’re thinking we need to put a PW promo in more project going forward. I already have an idea in mind for the next one.
Payday has a couple more scenes to go still. Hopefully we can get together with people and knock those out.
Insourcing continues with a shoot scheduled Sept. 8/9.
